Time: Two periods (70 minutes)
Aims:
1. To look for information from a website.
2. To be able to survey for products online.
3. To be able to write a description of a product.
Technical requirements:
1. 1 computer per group of 2-3 students
2. Internet connection
3. Web browser
4. Word processing.
Websites: www.gsmarena.com, www.lelong.com.my.
Preparation:
1. Look for a website which reviews mobile phones.
2. Look for an online shopping website.
3. Create a worksheet that utilizes the websites.
Procedure:
1. Teacher introduces the lesson for the day by asking the students whether they have a mobile phone and the reason they chose the particular brand and model. The teacher then introduces websites that reviews electronic gadgets and other products - www.gsmarena.com, www.asia.cnet.com.
Task 1 (30 Minutes)
2. For the first task, the teacher asks the students to do the worksheet by referring to www.gsmarena.com. They are to determine the suitable phones from the ones given for the personality that is described. The students will have utilize the websites search engine and read the specifications of the phones.
3. After the students have completed the first task, the teacher discusses the answers with them.
4. After the students have finished the discussion of the previous task, the teacher explains how to use an online shopping website to buy the thing we need without having to leave the house. Teacher also explains what to lookout for when shopping online so they would not be fooled by frauds.
Task 2 (30 minutes)
5. For the second task, the students, in groups, are required to look for a mobile phone within the range of RM150-RM600 and write an essay of 200-250 words about the phone and the reasons for choosing the phone based on the features and the offer by the seller.
Follow-up:
1. The students will present the phone that they have chosen to the class.
2. The students are to find any electrical equipment in their home and review it by describing its advantages and disadvantages.
